The Department of Finance and Banking at the Faculty of Accounting, Gharyan University, is one of the departments established to meet the labor market's need for qualified professionals in the field of finance and banking. We strive to equip students with the skills and knowledge that align with the latest university teaching methods, requirements, and objectives.
Description
The Finance and Banking Department at the Faculty of Accounting in Gharyan is a relatively new academic department within the faculty. It aims to graduate highly qualified professionals specializing in various financial fields. The department awards a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking to meet the community's need for skilled and experienced individuals, keep pace with developments in the field, and contribute to improving the business and investment environment. It also diversifies the output of the Faculty of Accounting to align with the needs of the labor market and society. In addition to its specialized academic role, the department organizes conferences, seminars, and provides scientific consultations to various community institutions. Furthermore, it contributes to focusing on economic and financial development in Libya, as well as preparing leaders in the field of finance and banking and introducing Islamic banking, with an emphasis on behavioral and ethical aspects, taking into account a global perspective. Therefore, the program's curriculum is designed according to the latest developments in global markets and in accordance with the values of Libyan society.
- The department was initially established as a division within the Department of Management, then as an independent department in 2009.
- The first graduating class from the department was in the spring semester of 2012.
- The department includes (11) faculty members, all of whom are nationals and most of whom are graduates of the College of Accounting, including (1) faculty member sent to study abroad and (2) teaching assistants.
Vision
The department should be a leader in the academic field, scientific research, and providing consultations in financial and banking sciences, and it should also contribute to bringing about community economic development.
Mission
The Department of Finance and Banking seeks to achieve the goals and requirements of development by graduating high-quality competencies in the financial and banking field, and developing scientific and research capabilities in line with the requirements of society and the labor market and participating in its progress, through the scientific and applied program prepared in accordance with the latest advanced scientific methods and programs in the field of various financial, banking and investment sciences.
Goals
- The program aims to introduce students to the general framework of finance, encompassing the management and investment of funds and keeping abreast of scientific advancements in the fields of finance and banking.
- It also aims to familiarize students with local and international financial and monetary institutions, and to foster an understanding of international financial and banking practices and applications.
- The program seeks to qualify and graduate academically and professionally competent individuals in the field of finance and banking, capable of meeting the needs of the job market.
- Familiarize students with the scientific theories used in investment decision-making and the analysis of institutional performance.
- The program develops students' research skills, enabling them to conduct finance and banking research that serves the community and the environment.
- It encourages participation in scientific conferences and seminars to advance financial and investment practices and to benefit from the expertise of specialists in the field.
